Google Chrome will start warning users about non-HTTPS sites from 2017

From the start of 2017, sites that do not use HTTPS risk being flagged as "not secure" by the browser's security features, the web giant has announced. Initially, this will only apply to sites that transmit passwords or credit card details over HTTP, but Google will eventually mark all HTTP sites as non-secure.

Harb seeks particulars of Ogero lawsuit

Telecoms Minister has requested that Prime Minister provide him with details of lawsuits filed against the head of state-owned telecoms company Ogero by Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil. Harb called on Salam to ask Bassil to provide him or the Cabinet’s General Secretariat with information on 45 lawsuits Bassil says he has filed against Abdel-Moneim Youssef, according to a press release.
Rio Olympics: Visitors warned over malicious WiFi networks

Experts at Skycure said cyber criminals are luring tourists in by setting up free WiFi networks that can steal personal information and passwords. They said they have already found suspicious WiFi hotspots at Rio Galeão Airport, the popular Rio Sul shopping centre and various coffee shops and hotels.
iTunes Gift Cards favoured by fraudsters

Victims have handed over approximately £520k to fraudsters who have asked for payment using iTunes Gift Cards, since May 2016. iTunes is an online media player developed by Apple and used to organise and access music, films and TV programmes. Apple offer iTunes Gift Cards for sale which can be redeemed on the iTunes Store and various other Apple services.

Vehicle registration employee arrested in fraud case: judge

In remarks published in Al-Joumhouria newspaper Tuesday, Ibrahim said he questioned five suspects believed to be linked to the case. One of the employees was arrested after evidence indicated his involvement in the scandal. All of them work at a vehicle registration center in Ouzai.

Identity fraudsters targeting young people

Action Fraud is working with Cifas who have released new figures which show a 52% rise in young people falling victim to identity fraud. In 2015, just fewer than 24,000 people aged 30 and under were victims of identity fraud. This is up from 15,766 in 2014, and is more than double the 11,000 victims in this age bracket in 2010.
